Third Party Plug-Ins/Apps For Final Cut Pro

iFunia, idustrial revolution Volumetrix 2 Transitions and DVShade EasyLooks 2.5/LiveToon 1.0

By Heath McKnight

Time for another edition of my third party plug-ins and software apps for Final Cut Pro (FCP).  This time around, I take a look at the powerful and easy-to-use (with a ton of codec options) iFunia Video Converter Pro, FxFactory 2.1 and idustrial revolution's Volumetrix 2 transitions, and FxFactory 2.1 and DVShade's EasyLooks 2.5 and LiveToon 1.0.

iFunia Video Converter Pro

iFunia Video Converter Pro

iFunia is a very clever and advanced professional video converter that can take your existing video and convert it into just about any codec you may need. These include HD, SD, web, hand-held devices, gaming platforms, cell phones, and more.

Plenty of codec options in iFunia

It's easy to use: simply launch the app and then add in your original source. I've been using it to convert .mp4 videos into QuickTime Movies (either SD or HD) so I can edit with the footage in FCP 7. Click the Add button to bring in a clip, then under Destination Set-Up, select what you want to Convert To, which gives you an extremely wide variety of codecs and devices, like Quicktime, .AVI, .MPEG (lots of varieties here), H.264, Flash, Audio, PSP, web-friendly codecs, Playstation 3, XBOX 360, iPod, iPhone, Zune, Blackberry smart phone, and a whole lot more, in HD, SD and other resolutions. Below that is the option where you want to Save To.

iFunia's Audio/Video Settings

Next to the Convert To drop-down menu, you'll see what looks like a Gear, which is the Settings button. Click there to change all your video and audio settings (it defaults to 25 fps, frames per second).  Lot of power here, lot of manual options. Then hit Start and iFunia will create the codec you need to work with or deliver.

iFunia isn't expensive at only $35 USD, and it's a very valuable tool to add to your video editor toolbox.  Check out http://www.ifunia.com  for more information.
